This is a reminder that if you plan to submit an education-related
workshop or special session proposal for the 2007 annual meeting in San
Jose, proposals are due December 1st. The meeting will be held August

Below is an overview of each type of session and links to the meeting
website where you can find more detailed information.

CALL FOR WORKSHOPS

San Jose , CA
August 5-10, 2007

Call Open: September 20 - December 1, 2006

Workshops are sessions intended to convey specific knowledge or skills;
they are not intended for the presentation of research papers. Workshops
are frequently more interactive and informal than sessions within the
formal scientific program, and often involve extended discussion. They
are not scheduled concurrently with symposia, organized oral,
contributed oral, or poster sessions. Workshops may involve one or
several teachers/presenters, and may include computer-based or other
'hands-on' training. Workshop proposals should make clear what skills,
tools, or insights participants might expect to gain from the session.

CALL FOR SPECIAL SESSION PROPOSALS

San Jose , CA
August 5-10, 2007

Call Open: September 20 - December 1, 2006

Special Sessions complement the formal scientific program, providing an
opportunity for presentations or extended dialogue and exchanges beyond
what is usually possible in the regular scientific sessions. These
sessions are not intended for the presentation of formal research
papers, and they do not run concurrently with the symposium, organized
oral, contributed oral, or poster sessions.

Special sessions do not conform to any single structure. They may, for
example, involve one presenter, a series of lectures or a panel; a film,
video or illustrated lecture; or a discussion. The Program Chairs have
the option of scheduling special sessions in the 1.5 hour time slot
prior to the Opening Scientific Plenary on Monday afternoon, August 6
(1-2:30 pm), or during the evenings of Monday August 6-Wednesday, August
8. Evening sessions run between 8-10 pm . To assist in assignment of a
meeting room, you must indicate the expected minimum and maximum
attendance. Special sessions may involve a ticket for a drink or
refreshments for the participants, but it is important to list that in
your proposal. NOTE: If refreshments are served, attendees will be
required to pay a fee to attend the session in order to cover the cost
of refreshments.
