Powdermill Nature Reserve, the biological research station for the Carnegie
Museum of Natural History is designing an environmental education program
for high school students. The program will entail a week of field research
and interactions with biologists and conservationists. Initially we will
work with regional high schools, but anticipate attracting students
nationally as the program matures. We are currently beginning a planning
process that includes one-day sessions with educators and conservation
biologists to help guide program objectives and curriculum development.
Meetings will be at Powdermill (an hour east of Pittsburgh, PA) and at the
Carnegie Museums in Pittsburgh. We are also seeking interested parties to
review draft curriculum materials and concepts. If you are interested in
participating in a session, would like more information, or would like to
comment on draft materials, please contact Theresa Gay Rohall at
tgrohall at wpa.net and Andrew Mack at mack.andrew.l at gmail.com
