Camp Manager 
(Full time benefited position)

General Description:  In conjunction with the Curator of Education and
other educational staff, will develop strategies for a year round camp
program. These camps will be available during school holidays, school
breaks, teacher work days and school weather days. The camp manager will
ensure that all camps run smoothly and effectively and meet the mission
of the Zoo.

Principle Job Duties and Responsibilities:
1.	Manages, trains, evaluates, orients, and provides professional
development opportunities for instructional staff.
2.	Manages the camps on a daily basis to ensure that all aspects of
the camps run smoothly.
3.	Manages the on-line registration of all camps and ensures that
all camps are up to date and on-line for their respective time periods.
4.	Creates, executes, and evaluates camp programs and creates
strategic plans and operational timelines for additional camps.
5.	Facilitates scheduling, registration, and other customer service
concerns.
6.	Teaches other classes as needed in the education department.
7.	Develops and executes a marketing plan for camps based on
program assessment and evaluations.
8.	Participates in Birmingham Zoo campus teams and projects.
9.	Maintains a working knowledge of current research, models, and
philosophy of education in schools, museums, and zoos.
10.	Performs other duties as assigned.

Position Specifications:

1.	Bachelor's degree in science, education, museum studies, or
related field preferred.
2.	Prefer a minimum of 3 years teaching experience in a formal or
informal education.
3.	Prefer experience in training, and supervising staff and
volunteers.
4.	Prefer candidate have experience in planning, developing, and
implementing camps and programs.
5.	Prefer experience in budget management.
6.	Prefer management experience and leading a team.
7.	Computer experience.
8.	Multitasking required.
9.	Good phone skills.
10.	Excellent people skills.
