BIOLOGY FACULTY POSITION, COKER COLLEGE. The Department of Science and
Mathematics at Coker College seeks a biologist to fill a non-tenure
track faculty position at the assistant professor rank starting in
August 2008. We anticipate this position may be converted to a tenure
track in the following year. Requirements include a PhD in biology or a
biology-related discipline, a demonstrated ability to teach
undergraduates, willingness to direct undergraduate research, and a
commitment to continued scholarship. Responsibilities include teaching
introductory biology, ecology and evolution, and related courses and
laboratories. Some non-major courses may be offered in the evening
and/or at off-campus sites. The successful candidate will have the
opportunity to develop an upper-level course in their area of expertise.
Postdoctoral and/or teaching experience is preferred but those with a
recent PhD are strongly encouraged to apply.
Coker College is a private, independent, comprehensive college with a
strong liberal arts emphasis. Coker is a student-centered institution
that has approximately 1100 day and evening students. Extensive student
interaction with faculty and experiential learning are expected. Coker
is listed by US News and World Report in the top tier of the best
comprehensive colleges in the South. More can be learned about the
college at http://www.coker.edu
